Product Dimensions
It’s important to enter product dimensions directly in Addition. The app uses these dimensions to calculate the most suitable packaging for each order and to display accurate shipping rates at checkout.
❗If you’re sending items like clothing, fabric, or other foldable products, make sure you enter the folded dimensions — the size the product will actually be when it’s packed for shipping.
The more precise you are with your measurements, the more accurate your shipping quotes will be, especially if you sell a wide variety of products and have multiple packaging types.
You can update dimensions one by one, or make bulk changes to save time.
💡 Note: Product dimensions are stored directly in the Addition app. Dimensions added to Shopify (for example, via metafields) aren’t imported into Addition.
How to add or edit individual product dimensions
From your Addition dashboard, click Products.
Here, you'll see all of your products listed
Simply click in the dimensions fields to add each product's measurements. Make sure to click out of the field when you are done and it will auto-save.
Enter the dimensions of the product once it is ready for shipping, e.g. for a t-shirt you would enter the measurements when the t-shirt is folded, not dimensions of the shirt when laid out flat.
Alternatively, you can click Edit on the right hand side of a product, change the details on the Edit page, and click Save.
How to bulk edit product dimensions (Option 1)
It's also possible to edit multiple product dimensions at one time, but this is only useful if you have multiple products of the same size, for example if you had a product in multiple colour-ways.
On the products page, select the products you wish to edit and click Edit variants.
On the Edit variants screen, fill in the detail and click Save
Now the products you edited will all be populated with the same dimensions.
How to bulk export and/or bulk import product dimensions (Option 2)
Another way to bulk update your product dimensions is to export your product dimensions into an excel spreadsheet, edit the LxWxH (in cm, save and import the dimensions to the app.
- On the products page, at the top right hand side of the screen, click Export dimensions
- The file will download into an editable Excel spreadsheet
- You can update the product dimensions within the Excel spreadsheet, save and then use the "Import dimensions" button to update your products
