How does Addition select which package to quote?

Addition selects the best packaging based on product weight, product dimensions, and available packaging options.

1️⃣ Weight Calculation from Shopify

  • At checkout, Shopify sends Addition the total weight of all products in the cart.
  • Addition ensures the quote follows Australia Post weight limits (e.g., MyPost Business: 22kg per package, Flat Rate packaging: 5kg max).

2️⃣ Checking Product Dimensions in Addition

  • Addition uses product dimensions (length, width, height) entered in the Addition app.
  • This helps determine the total volume of the order to select the correct packaging.

3️⃣ Selecting the Right Packaging

  • If multiple packaging options exist, Addition compares the total order volume to available packages.
  • It decides whether to use single or multiple packages, including different sizes of satchels or boxes.

4️⃣ Calculating Package Quantity

  • For large orders, Addition determines how many packages are needed.
  • Example: If an order has 100 items, the app calculates whether one, two, or more packages are required.

To ensure accurate rates, make sure:

✅ Product dimensions are correctly entered in Addition.

✅ All packaging options are set up properly in Addition.

✅ Product weights are accurately recorded in Shopify.
