Locations
What are Locations?
Locations refer to the physical places from which you ship your products. By default, Addition will display all locations set up in your Shopify Dashboard.
Once you set a default location in Addition, these details (business name, address etc) will be used as the 'Sender Details' on your shipping labels!
If you edit locations in Shopify, you must Resync Locations in Addition for the changes to take effect.
Changes made in Addition will not update in Shopify, but they will override Shopify settings when calculating shipping rates and fulfilling orders. Addition always prioritises the location details entered in the app over those in Shopify.
Changing Your Default Location
You will always have one default location. Follow these steps to update it:
- Open your Addition dashboard, go to Settings > Locations.
- You’ll see a list of locations. The current default is marked with a 'default' tag.
- Click View on the location you want to set as the new default.
- Scroll down, select Default shipping origin, then click Save.
Note: This change will not appear in Shopify but will override Shopify settings in Addition.
Editing Locations
You can update locations in Addition or Shopify, but changes in one will not sync to the other automatically.
Editing a Location in Addition
- Go to your Addition dashboard, click Settings > Locations.
- Click View on the location you want to update.
- Make any necessary changes to your business name and/or sender name, address etc, then click Save.
🚨 Important: If you have privacy concerns, you can use a PO Box or a general street description instead of a full physical address.
⚠️ If you click ‘Resync Locations’ in Addition, any edits made within Addition will be lost as the app pulls data from Shopify.
Editing a Location in Shopify
- Open your Shopify dashboard, go to Settings > Locations.
- Click on the location you want to update.
- Make any changes, then click Save.
- In Addition, go to Settings > Locations and click Resync Locations to apply the changes.
🚨 Warning: If you resync locations in Addition, any previous edits made directly in Addition will be lost as the app updates based on Shopify’s data.
By managing locations correctly, you ensure accurate shipping rates and a smooth fulfilment process in Addition.
