Install Addition
If you haven't already, add the Australia Post Shipping app to your store
- Add the Australia Post Shipping app:
- Open your browser and go to console.addition.app.
- Enter your myshopify.com domain (e.g., shopname.myshopify.com) and click "Submit"
- Authorise the App:
- During installation, authorise the app. This allows the app to provide Carrier Rates and set up the subscription charge (Note: Addition is available on ALL Shopify plan types, including Basic - you do not need to be on a higher tier Shopify Plan).
- Complete Setup:
- After approval, you'll be redirected to the Addition dashboard to complete the setup.
Update Shipping Zones
Create a Shipping Zone (if not already created):
- Go to Shopify Settings > Shipping and delivery.
- Click "Manage rates" on one of your shipping profiles.

- If no shipping zone is set up, click "Create shipping zone." Name the zone and select the countries or regions, then click "Done."
- If no shipping zone is set up, click "Create shipping zone." Name the zone and select the countries or regions, then click "Done."
Add Australia Post Rates:
Click "Add rate" on the desired zone.
- In the "Add rate" window, select "Use carrier or app to calculate rates," and choose "Australia Post Shipping (Rates provided by app)" from the dropdown menu.
- If greyed out, the app is already added to this zone. You only need to add the app once to each zone.
Configure Services:
- Check the desired post services (e.g., Express Post, Parcel Post) and "Automatically show new shipping services to customers when available."
- Click "Done" and save your changes.
Delete Shopify default rates (Optional)
Access Shipping Settings:
- Go to your Shopify Dashboard and click Settings in the bottom left corner.
- Select Shipping and delivery.
Manage Rates:
- Click Manage Rates in the 'Rates at checkout' section.
- Scroll to the 'Shipping to' section to see your rates.
Delete Default Rates:
- If you see a 'Your rates' tab, these are Shopify default rates. Click the three dots next to each rate and select Delete.
- If Australia Post Shipping is listed under 'Carrier and app rates' tab, you don't need to do anything.
Check Other Zones:
Ensure there are no default rates in other zones, such as international ones.
Save Changes:
Click the Save button at the top right if you've made any changes.
Tip: Delete any default rates in all shipping zones to avoid conflicts.
